Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) within technology companies that produce hardware. This topic was chosen because consumers are getting more and more interested and aware of the CSR activities of companies. In this way, the topic is an up-and-coming, interesting area for us as marketing students to research into. To do this we will be looking at whether CSR is used, or if it should be, now as a marketing tool in different technology companies and reference this to various theories.
This webpage covers all the relevant aspects related to

the topic. We are going to discuss CSR and marketing in general before relating them to the technology industry. Appropriate theory as well as our own research into the subject are covered. Many interesting ideas surrounding the topic are included to create a better understanding and a bigger picture about it in general, such as corporate social marketing, greenwashing, clean technology and CSR advertising.
As students we all use laptops every day, but we realized we do not know much about the CSR initiatives of the companies we purchased our laptops from. CSR is becoming more important, and therefore more people are wanting to know about CSR when making purchasing decisions. Take, for example, the car industry where environmental concerns related to cars are seen as a necessity now. In previous years these concerns were not taken into consideration because consumers were not aware of them, but in today’s world they are. Therefore, now marketers need to take it into consideration when planning their marketing strategy. We believe this will happen in the technology industry as well, and marketers should prepare themselves for it.
